#7 Toyota quickest in Bahrain qualifying

The #7 Toyota TS050 of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José Mária López has taken pole position for the 2020 8 Hours of Bahrain. The fastest average lap time of 1:40.747 was around three quarters of a second quicker than the #8 machine in second.

The #7 crew, second in the championship by 7 points going into the final race of the season, enjoy an advantage over the sister car due to the FIA WEC’s success balancing system. Converting pole position into the race win will be enough to hand Conway, Kobayashi and López the drivers’ title.

Elsewhere, the #92 Porsche was quickest in GTE Pro after the #95 Aston Martin, who had posted the fastest average lap time, had laps disqualified for track limits violations. Marco Sorensen and Nicki Thiim will start the race from the front row and simply need to finish ahead of Maxime Martin and Richard Westbrook in the sister car to take the title.

LMP2 pole went to 2020 champions United Autosports, while Aston Martin locked out the front row in GTE Am.
