The winning drivers of the GTE-Pro class, Frenchman Patrick Pilet and Ferderic Makowiecki drove 167 laps on their way to class victory. They were closely followed by their sister car, driven by teammates Richard Lietz and Jörg Bergmeister. As a result of this 1-2 finish Porsche gained important championship points in the battle for the manufacturers’ title. Porsche gained more points than they at first might of expected with the #98 Aston Martin and the #51 Ferrari both retiring from the race. After this weekend, the Porsche team is only seven points behind leaders Ferrari in the GTE Manufacturers’ Championship.

In an interview with Porsche works driver Patrick Pilet said: My first win in the WEC but it was also time. That was a perfect race for us today, in which everything was fine. We had a good car, perfect pit stops and the right strategy. Now I am looking forward to Bahrain.
