Porsche junior star Sven Müller has announced on his official Facebook page that he will make his WEC debut at the second round of the season at Spa. The 23-year-old will drive in one of Porsche’s two works-entered 911 RSRs in the GTE Pro category.
After spending five years in single-seater racing, Sven Müller switched to the Porsche Carrera Cup in 2014. The Mainz-born driver joined the Porsche development programme and has been part of the Porsche team ever since. Müller will follow up his first year in GT racing with another season in Porsche Cup Deutschland as well as a programme in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
In addition to his regular season plans, the German driver has now been given the chance to race in the WEC for Team Manthey. This is by no means Müller’s first taste of endurance racing action, as the 23-year-old already competed in the Hankook Dubai 24 Hours at the start of the year. Müller is currently with the Porsche team at Circuit Paul Ricard for the WEC’s official prologue. His seat in either the #91 or #92 will remain a one-off for the time being in replacement for one of the works team’s main drivers.
