Rene Rast set pole position in LMP2 alongside Roman Rusinov for G-Drive Racing today for tomorrow’s FIA WEC season opener at Silverstone. Rast confirmed that despite the qualifying session taking place in the wet, the #26 Ligier was being run on the dry set up the team had worked on over the free practice sessions on Friday.
Rene Rast told WEC-Magazin, that after two dryer sessions yesterday for the WEC “We (G-Drive Racing) set up our car on dry conditions.” The German explained, “For the race we have a good set up.”
This makes G-Drive one to watch tomorrow due to their strong wet pace even on their dry set up. Rast added, “The car felt very good yesterday in the dry.” The race is forecast to be dry tomorrow, so not having to predict a dry set up over night should give G-Drive the upper hand tomorrow in LMP2.
Rast continued, “We have to just fine tune a few things here and there.” Overall, the LMP2 pole sitter said, “I think we have a good car”.
