The first day in Bahrain is now over and Porsche driver, Neel Jani set lap times like no other. The Swiss set a time in today’s night practice session to go fastest of the day. His best time was a 1: 43.375. Jani was on the pace straight away, beating his top time from the previous session immediately. Jani got the Porsche going so well, even his second fastest lap was faster than any other of its competitors. By the end of the session, the Toyotas tried to beat Porsche’s time, but not even the 1000 BHP Toyota TS040 could beat Jani.

Two seconds behind the leading group in the afternoon was both of the Audis. It seems as if the Ingolstadt squad still continues to struggle with the performance of the R18. In the LMP2 standings, the G-Drive team of Rusinov, Canal and Pla set the best time, approximately 0.7 seconds ahead of the SMP Racing team.

Nicki Thiim his GTE-AM Aston Martin (# 95) on the top of the entire GT field and was thus faster than all of the Pro-vehicles. The championship leading Ferrari duo Bruni/Vilander was one second behind Thiim. Behind, Bergmeister and Lietz were third fastest in the Porsche 911 RSR.
