Scrutineering at the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans

The Le Mans week officially began on Sunday with the start of the scrutineering event in Le Mans city centre. A total of 60 drivers and 22 cars gathered at the Place de la République to run through the official checks before race action begins on Wednesday. We have put together some images from Sunday’s action.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans began in traditional style in front of a large crowd in the city centre. The #23 Panis Barthez Compétition LMP2 car had the honour of being the first in the scrutineering tent. Other highlights included the first five LMP1 cars, including the pair of SMP Racing BR01s featuring former Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button.

Dempsey-Proton Racing were also out in force, presenting one of the youngest drivers in this year’s race: Julien Andlauer. However, the honour of youngest driver in 2018 goes to Brit Philip Hanson, who shares a birthday with Andlauer but was born just a few hours earlier.
