Hypercar: Red is the colour in Texas
Ferrari showed that they are likely the team to beat at the Circuit of the Americas this weekend with a strong qualifying performance. Robert Kubica qualified his #83 AF Corse machine along Giovinazzi on the front row, with a time just 0.277 seconds slower than the Italian. Alex Lynn continued Cadillac Racing’s strong weekend with a third position in qualifying. Starting alongside the Brit will be the #35 Alpine, after Frenchman Charles Milesi qualified in fourth.
Antonio Fuoco and Matt Campbell rounded out the top six in the #50 Ferrari and #5 Porsche respectively. In a major surprise, the championship-leading #6 Porsche failed to even make it into the Hyperpole shoot-out and will start Sunday’s race from 14th.
LMGT3: Heart of Racing on pole at home race
In the LMGT3 class, Ian James secured Heart of Racing’s first pole of the season in their Aston Martin Vantage. The British driver went fastest with a lap of 2:05.587 at the US team’s home track.
Sarah Bovy’s excellent lap will see the Iron Dames Lamborghini Huracan starting along the Aston Martin on row one, followed by the Vista AF Corse Ferrari in third position.
