On-track action has well and truly begun at the Circuit de la Sarthe. The customary pre-event test kicked off Le Mans week on Sunday, giving teams and drivers an opportunity to drive the full circuit for the first time since last year’s race.
With most teams spending the eight hours of track time to develop their set-up or record their mandatory flying laps of the circuit, lap times are of minor importance.
Nevertheless, Kevin Estre was the quickest driver of the day in the #6 Porsche 963 with a 3:26.907. Just 0.235 seconds further behind was the #4 Porsche, with the #8 Toyota posting the third-fastest time.
The worst of the dramas befell BMW, whose #15 BMW M Hybrid V8 required an engine change and only managed 12 laps in the afternoon session.
