Driver’s view: Simon Trummer in Mexico City

14303685_1239344862776491_304770043_oThe premiere in Mexico was a very special event. There are many things you could write about the country itself, and I myself have mixed feelings about the country.

I have to say the track and the organisers were fantastic! It really was a wonderful event. I enjoyed my time at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, but the track takes a bit of getting used to and in my opinion isn’t fully suited to the WEC.

At ByKolles, our race weekend went well overall. Apart from the first free practice session, when our engine went on strike, we were able to perform well across all of the sessions. I was also satisfied with my own performance, as I was able to put in really competitive lap times.

I built on this in the race, but unfortunately our car caught fire once again. This time, though, I was able to bring it back to the pits. Our mechanics quickly got to work and gave their all and we were back on track after just 20 minutes. In the end, we managed to finish the race.

It’s not easy for us at the moment but we are on the right track and I think we can build on this result next week in Texas.

Regards,
Simon
